Story 1 ------- Hi. My name is Maurice, and once upon a time I jumped over the garden fence into the neighbour's garden only to then climb into their swimming pool and hide underneath a dinghy. What happened next caused a great deal of fright. Yes; the neighbors came back home from shopping and let their dog into the garden. The dog casually strolled by the swimming pool being unable to detect my scent because I was mostly under water. I had to wait 45 minutes there in freezing water before finally the chance came when the dog went back inside - and - the neighbors were not visible anymore in the kitchen window. I escaped back to the safety of my own garden and then went inside. I made myself a hot cup of tea and sat their pondering my actions. After a few minutes, I got up and started writing out my plan to launch small electronic components into another neighbor's garden. Indeed, my life was quite strange in the 1980s. I now wonder why I did such things. Story 2 ------- One upon a time, I found myself to be very bored during the summer holidays when my parents were both at work. To distract from my boredom, I thought it a good idea to build a dam in the sewer using garden soil. I got straight to work and started collecting buckets of mud from the garden. Then I removed drain cover and proceeded to build a small mud wall in the drainage channel. When the dam was ready, I ran upstairs and turned on all the taps in the bathroom, flushed the toilet, ran back downstairs and opened the kitchen taps and then jumped outside to see what would happen. Unsurprisingly, the water level started to rise. I was joyous when it appeared that my dam was functioning correctly. Moments later however, I noticed the dam started to move. Before I had time to turn off the water, all of the mud had slid past the opening of the drain and now the sewer was blocked and the water started to rise. I immediately turned off all the taps but unfortunately the drain now resembled a small pond. I then remembered that my parents had recently purchased wet/dry vacuum cleaner. It had not yet been used. I tried reading the instructions but could not make heads or tails from them so I did what I thought was correct. The vacuum pipe was down the drain in the muddy water and I was about to turn it on. Suddenly, there was a knock at the front door. I did not expect my parents back home until at least 5 o'clock and it was only 2pm. When I opened the door, I was filled with utter dread as my dad walked in and said in a stern voice "Good evening son". He paced into the dining room to drop off his briefcase when I mumbled to him, "Oh, dad there's a been a problem with the drain". He went outside and saw the brand new vacuum cleaner stuck in the drain with dirty brown muddy water all around it. "Get inside!" he should to me. He was not best pleased. He then proceeded to attach garden canes together to try and dislodge the mud. After half and hour he also fished out a pair of his own shorts that I had used to reinforce the mud dam.
